DISCUSSION ON PUBLIC LEADERSHIP WITH SEATTLE MAYOR BRUCE HARRELL

Join us on May 20, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM for a discussion with Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell on the challenges and responsibilities of public leadership. Drawing from his experience as Mayor and longtime City Councilmember, Mayor Harrell will reflect on his time in office as he approaches an election this year. The event will include a moderated discussion followed by audience Q&A. This event will take place at the University of Washington, Gowen Hall, room 201.

Mayor Bruce Harrell
Bruce Harrell is the 57th mayor of Seattle. He previously served on the Seattle City Council from 2008 to 2020, including as council president from 2016 to 2020. Born in Seattle in 1958, Harrell is of African American and Japanese American descent. He graduated as valedictorian from Garfield High School in 1976, and earned both his BA in political science and JD from the University of Washington. While at UW, Harrell was a line-backer wining first-team All-Pac-10 selection and Academic All-American, and was part of the Huskies' 1978 Rose Bowl-winning team. He faces re-election this November, 2025.
